I Saw Her Standing There

Well another review for puzzle game. Actually i played this game a long time ago, but just found the mood to write review about it just recently. *cough*.

This game is quite different than the usual -play-and-forget- flash games. I mean, this game left some impact after I've seen the ending. Beside that, this game really have simple [if not terrible] graphics even for a flash game, and i think the developer is lazy enough to make BGM for this game. You will only hear one guitar song played in the entire game. But the guitar melody really suit this game. Well i really enjoyed the soundtrack when i play the game.

You play as a human, who deeply in love with a zombie. YES, she is a zombie. Your aim in each puzzle is to trap your beloved one in a cage. Fortunately, she is also in love with you. So she will be chasing you whenever you are around her. But it is not an easy task, sometimes you will be faced with the other zombies who dislike your relationship with here. This shit is also happened in real life ._.. But thanks to the developer, your loved one will always love you although so many zombies around her. *sigh*

The message contained in this game is really.. really deep. No, i think the developer is really a humorous person. Every puzzle in this game is narrated by some romantic text. I mean, it is not an usual casual puzzle games when your objective is only to get highest score in each stage. It doesn't have any high score system, but i think the developer did a really great job to make the player enjoyed the game until they finished the game. Your only reward when finishing a puzzle is, a continuation from the narration text. Depends on your point of view when seeing the narration, you could be either laughed or just get bored.

It is a little spoiler, if you want to skip just click the game i posted below. The main character (you) faced some doubts if he can really be together with her lover. He is a human and she is a zombie. They are different, they will never be together. But the ending is really great, it's really contains deep message for some people. So the main character make a sacrifice in order for them to be together. *well if only i could do that in my life also*. Nevertheless, this game is worth your time. You will rarely seen flash game as good as this one.

Limbo Review [Steam Edition]

Finally bought this on steam's flash sale. Yeah i know i am a very cheap one. But i really want to share about this great game created by Playdead Studio from Denmark. It is a masterpiece.

Video Trailer

No dialogue, no cutscene and really different with the other games. Also this game doesn't really have any BGM and colors. Wait... No colors? Yes this game is only presented in black, grey and white. No direction how to play the game, you just follow your own intuition to flee from this hellish area.

I would say the artist really did well for presenting this game in black and white presence. The dark atmosphere from this game is really great, and fits nicely with the gameplay. Although i mentioned before this game doesn't have any BGM, it is filled with really great ambient sounds and sound effects. Don't hesitate to put your headphone when playing the game. Also, at some point the sound effects will be critical to solve some puzzle.

The mechanics is simple, really simple, your hero only needs to walk left, right or jumps to solve some puzzles presented in the game. As the developer says, this game idea is based on trial-and-death gameplay. It means that you will die a lot in the game. Sounds frustrating, huh? Of course no. It wouldn't be a masterpiece game if it's frustrating. You will die in gruesome ways, either by traps or you fall of a climb or the other things. But when you die, you will respawn near the traps. So you will solve the puzzle immediately. The puzzle itself is physics based to add more realistic feels.

I finished this game in about 3 hours, is it really short? In fact, no. It is 3 hours fulls of experience. Instead giving you to play in 100 hours but mostly it is wasted in wandering aimlessly like the other game *cough*, you will be drawn into the rich experience of Limbo.

Myself is really satisfied with this game, *although i bought it at discounted price*. And the best thing is, you can play this game in whichever platform you have. It's already ported in all major gaming platform. If you don't have this game already, i suggest you to pick this one. Just pick on your PSN/XBLA/Steam and try this game.

Final Judgement
Graphics: 5 / 5
Gameplay: 5 / 5
Sound: 5 / 5
Total Score : 5 / 5
